Preliminary construction on a Hindu temple is expected to begin this summer at 390 North St. in White Plains.
Hindu Temple of Tristates got approval April 7 from White Plains officials to build the 15,000-square-foot temple on a vacant 1.75-acre plot near Bryant Avenue.
The two-story structure will have an entrance foyer, community hall and kitchen on the ground level and the second floor will have the sanctuary and prayer space.
According to the temple’s website, construction is expected to cost from $1.5 to $2 million.
Westchester County land records show that the Hindu Temple of Tristates paid $800,000 for the property in 2011.
