It took a lower price—a 61 percent reduction, actually—to do it, but the 50-acre Copper Beach Farm on the Long Island Sound in Greenwich, Conn., has sold for $120 million, according to The Real Deal.
It was put on the market in July 2013 for $190 million which made it the most expensive estate on for sale. The price was lowered in January for $130 million. Read our story recounting the sales history and detailing the property that was owned by the Lauder family.
The buyer is named as Conservation Institute LLC and state records say it is based in Stamford. It is unclear what people made the purchase and what will happen to the sprawling land that has been an estate since the late 1890’s.
Even with the price reduction the sale is the most expensive on record in Connecticut, says a blog of the Hearst Connecticut Media Group.
