A Target store proposed in Yonkers near Stew Leonard’s and Costco has been reduced in size.
Morris Companies of Secaucus, N.J., is now proposing a 135,000-square-foot store, 40,000 square feet less than it originally proposed in late 2012.
Other changes for the development near Austin Avenue include a size reduction for a wall along Prior Place and a reconfiguration of the proposed store’s delivery bays.
Morris Companies laid out their plans Monday night at community meeting in Yonkers.
Yonkers City Councilman John Larkin, R-6th District, attended the meeting.
“I think they’re going in the right direction,” Larkin said on Tuesday. “I’ll reserve judgment.”
The proposed store has elicited concerns about its size, traffic and property tax payments, said Larkin, noting that the proposal hasn’t been formally submitted to the city’s Planning Board or had an environmental review.
