The Community Builders, Inc., the developer of the former School 6 site next to the Cottage Place Gardens public housing development in Yonkers, has awarded $13.7 million in contracts to women and minority contractors.
The developer and the Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers announced the milestone Tuesday, noting that the contracts have met a goal set by the state for minority- and women-owned businesses.
The $62.9 million Schoolhouse Terrace at Croton Heights on Ashburton Avenue is a 121-unit mixed-income residential development will offer apartments for seniors and families of all incomes.
Since breaking ground in September 2013, TCB had awarded $9.6 million to certified minority owned business enterprises, representing 22.1 percent of the project total and slightly exceeding the state goal of 22 percent.
During the same period, TCB awarded $4.17 million in contracts to certified women-owned business enterprises, totaling 10.1 percent of the project total and slightly more than the state goal of 10 percent.
In addition, TCB has contracted $1.9 million of business on the project to disadvantaged business enterprises.
