Maybe Angelina Jolie should consider a different island in Putnam County to treat her longtime partner Brad Pitt.
There was lots of talk in November that she was thinking of 11-acre Petra Island in Lake Mahopac because of its Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired house that has a 65-foot cantilevered wing and breathtaking views of the hamlet’s jewel of a lake. The reported price for this contemporary house was about $20 million and is reported to be still on the market.
That story did not pan out to a house closing and the daughter of the island’s owner Joseph Massaro said she was never aware that Jolie or Pitt even toured the place.
But if Jolie loves Putnam County and rural points near New York City we think this listing of Willow Island in Putnam Lake might be of interest.
The price is just under $1 million so there is a substantial savings even if the house is not a FLW kind of design, which Pitt is said to appreciate. The unspoiled island and cozy house could be a good choice with a lot less fanfare. The listing notes that it is a short row boat trip from the mainland or a quick motor boat ride.
It does have 4 bedrooms, though it could be tight with 1 full and 1 partial bathroom. The lot is an acre of land and a guest cottage so it could offer sufficient space.
And then, maybe someone else will go to contract on this before the Jolie-Pitt family even takes a good look?
One Willow Island in Patterson has annual taxes of $13,207, according to listing agent Gabe Pasquale of Douglas Elliman. Listing ID is 3331014.
