MOUNT PLEASANT Regeneron and its employees commemorated a $100 million expansion on Monday expected to create 400 new full-time jobs.
Company and elected officials staged a ground-breaking ceremony on the north side of the Landmark at Eastview property at 777 Old Saw Mill River Road for two new buildings that will add 300,000 square feet of office and laboratory space. Regeneron also celebrated its designation as the top biopharmaceutical employer in the world by Science magazine for the second year in a row.
Dr. George D. Yancopoulos, Regeneron’s president, said the firm is an exception in the biotech industry.
“Few companies ever imagine the series of successes you all deliver time and again,” said Yancopoulos, citing the company’s positive report on October 21 of phase-three data for its EYLEA anti-blindness drug and its October 16 annoucement of positive results for a cholesterol-reduction drug, among other recent triumphs.
The company currently occupies about 590,000 square feet of space at the office park, mostly on the south of Old Saw Mill River Road in the Town of Greenburgh. The construction has already begun and it’s expected to be completed by late 2015.
