Lots of new home-related businesses continue to open in the local area, including Cosentino, Leicht, and Current Home in Scarsdale.
Here’s a really great resource in New Rochelle if you need wainscoting or, yes, an instant cove ceiling. If you check out home design magazines, you’re bound to see stunning rooms that feature gorgeous custom millwork: baseboards, chair rails, cove ceilings, crown molding — and wainscoting. Ralph Rossi, the president of Pratt & D’Angelo in New Rochelle, has done similar projects in local homes that would rival any of these magazine spreads.
In order to bring these same beautiful architectural details to the average homeowner, Pratt & D’Angelo has just opened a new showroom in New Rochelle. Here’s photographer Mark Vergari’s photo of Ralph in the showroom, which is located at 371 North Ave. in New Rochelle (866-467-7288, www.prattdangelo.com) The store is chock full of design inspirations (there are options for every room in your house, including the bathroom).
In Mount Kisco, Cosentino, a family-owned manufacturer of natural stone, recycled and architectural surfaces will have its grand opening on Thursday, May 9. They say the new center is a great resource to architects, designers and homeowners. Rather than trying to imagine what a countertop or vanity will look like from a small tile, they can see it fully installed at the center and also see inspiring design possibilities that go beyond the kitchen and bath.
“The Westchester center is a fantastic addition to our nationwide group of showrooms and distribution centers,” said Lorenzo Marquez, VP of Marketing for Cosentino North America. “We felt it was critical to have a foundation in greater New York area, a leading hub for innovative architecture and design. We’re confident our showroom experience and design knowledge will help enhance resources for local architects and designers as well as consumers, who are looking to renovate their kitchen or bathroom.” The Westchester Center is located at 333 North Bedford Road in Mount Kisco, 914-242-1751.
Already open in the village is Leicht, a high-end German kitchen design firm which has some amazing options when it comes to cabinetry, storage and countertops. Owned by Ohad Berebi and partner Mayan Metzler, this is the first location in the northern suburbs for the high-end German company.
“Leicht is like the Mercedes or BMW of kitchens,” says Berebi. “It is German engineering at its best.” Leicht is loccated at 200 E. Main St., Mount Kisco, 914-218-3433, www.leicht westchester.com.
