See those solar panels above? Well we hear that installing them has become a must for new buildings in Lancaster, Calif., a city in the Mojave Desert.
Starting Jan. 1. 2014, all newly-constructed single-family homes must include a solar panel, according to Matt Hickman of Mother Nature Network. The city, he notes, has 300 days of sunshine a year and is on a high altitude. This new law is intended to encourage solar panel use in the community.
