It’s not just sing;e-family homes that are being fabricated.
In New Rochelle, The Hammel Building is the latest pre-fab success story.
The luxury rental building on 32 Burling Lane, which just recently opened, went up with shocking speed and efficiency because all the units were assembled off-site – in Pennsylvania. A lot along the New Rochelle coastline was used as a staging area and they were installed one at a time at the site near New Rochelle’s downtown.
“There are some big benefits for a pre-fab,” William Hammel said, referring to solid acoustics they provide and the speedy 10-month construction period.
He noted that there are also solid acoustic benefits to assembling the units in such a pre-fabricated way, not to mention that it requires much less construction space near the site making it ideal for urban construction.
