Commercial real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle has found an interesting employment trend by tracking the workforces of both Westchester and Fairfield counties over a long term.
The new study, conducted by Jones Lang LaSalle researcher Erin Patterson, found that though Westchester lagged its Connecticut neighbor for several years during the latest economic recession, Westchester has recently retook the lead.
Patterson said she expected Westchester to grow upon this margin, citing a similar pattern that it showed when it embarked upon a decade of dominance in 1999.
Both counties, she said, look to have improving fundamentals.
The data she reviewed includes employed residents of Westchester and Fairfield as well as those who are unemployed but actively looking for work. See Jones Lang LaSalle’s “Chart of the Week” below:
