JR Ewing, we all know, is a fictional, yet larger than life character, the central figure in “Dallas,” which has recently been resurrected on TNT. Actor Larry Hagman played JR with just the right amount of over-the-top swagger and that goes for his house, too —the sprawling South Fork. In real life, Hagman lived in a swell pad in Santa Monica, California, right on the ocean. The Los Angeles Times is reporting the home is for sale, following Hagman’s death. The penthouse is on the market for $5.2 million.
Here’s a look at the penthouse view:
Lauren Beale of the LA Times reports that two-bedroom, three-bathroom pied-a-terre is in a building constructed in 1963 and includes 3,029 square feet of living space. The contemporary-style condo has views of the ocean and three parking spaces. Amenities include 24-hour security, a swimming pool and a gym. The interior is a little dated, at least for my tastes:
The property last changed hands in 1996 for $1.45 million, public records show. But still, for the right buyer, the place has a certain charm and not to mention, location.
Hagman was in his ‘80s afterall so he could be forgiven for this tiny and somewhat claustrophobic Chinese-themed bedroom. The same goes for a small bathroom, although I am curious about those those framed bills on the wall. This Santa Monica penthouse is almost as fabulous as South Fork.
