The Westchester commercial real estate market has been dominated by the smaller companies since the great recession began.
Most leasing activity has been for minor expansions of existing offices or a the moving of a small company to an office park suite somewhere in the county.
Erin Patterson, a researcher at the Jones Lang LaSalle commercial real estate firm, recently looked at the other tenants – the so-called “big fish” which take on local leases for more than 50,000 square feet – and compared them with our rivals in neighboring Fairfield County, Conn. The results are mapped out here in her Chart of the Week:
The six big fish deals of the past year include Pepsi’s move from Harrison to White Plains, BOCES move to Harrison and Endurance’s move to Harrison.
Fuji Film, Bunge and Entergy Nuclear Northeast also had big renewals in the area, Patterson said.
