Beyonce. Blake Lively. Tom Cruise. The end of the year is always full of retrospectives, from the best in popular culture, to music to books to celebs. And why not celebrity homes? The biggest news in these parts was when actors Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds began co-habiting in a cozy yellow clapboard in Bedford. The couple eventually married and have been spotted all over Westchester shopping and dining.
Then there was Tom Cruise. For a few minutes, it was rumored that Cruise was house hunting in Northern Westchester and Rockland, searching for a retreat he could use to entertain his daughter Suri. Unfortunately, even with all the mega-estates available, Tom chose to buy in Manhattan. Bronxville native Joan Rivers made headlines this year for the eye-opening $29.5 million someone paid for Manhattan townhouse, shown here.
Then there was Beyonce and Jay-z. No, the new parents of baby Blue Ivy did not move to Scarsdale, as had been rumored. David and Sherrie Matusz of Mamaroneck turned out to be the owners of the posh Heathcote Road home being built there, reporter Andrew Klappholz discovered. Here’s the house under construction:
Other local celebrities on the move in 2012: TV host Meredith Viera left her longtime Irvington home and headed for California; actress Debra Winger also left Irvington for a Manhattan address. The website curbed.com reported that Vieira a bought a modest home in the Hollywood Hills for $1.12 million.
