Westchester County Clerk Timothy C. Idoni is cautioning all Westchester homeowners to be on the lookout of the newest scam pertaining to housing documents.
“If you receive written notice from a company asking you to purchase a copy of your deed, ignore it.” Idoni said in a news release today.
“These “legal” deed scams are becoming much more sophisticated to the point where county clerks in upstate New York have received reports of invoices that look like bills being sent to homeowners in their county,” he said.
He added that it’s probably just a matter of time before these notices start showing up in the mailboxes of Westchester homeowners.
