The 15-year lease that Wilson Elser signed to bring the prominent law firm to 1133 Westchester Ave. has been named the “Lease of the Year” by the Commercial Real Estate Development Association.
At 125,000 square feet, it was Westchester’s largest office lease in 2011.
Howard E. Greenberg, SIOR, president of Howard Properties in White Plains, announced the award today after receiving it n behalf of his company, which represented Wilson Elser.
“I am honored to receive this prestigious award,” Greenberg said in a press release. “It confirms the principle on which my business has been built: a small boutique firm like mine that exclusively represents the interests of commercial real estate tenants and buyers can successfully compete and win the prize for the largest transaction in Westchester County.”
The association, known as NAIOP, comprises more than 15,000 members and provides advocacy, education, and business opportunities through its North American network. The award was given by its Connecticut and suburban New York chapter.
The deal at 1133, the home of the Journal News and LoHud.com, is part of the law firm’s move away from its headquarters on Gannett Drive.
The media company and the law firm announced their moves around the same time last year. Both entities are leaving the Harrison side of the Platinum Mile for White Plains side.
