As residents all over the Lower Hudson Valley cope with the damage sustained to their homes from Superstorm Sandy, many are looking for a place to stay while repairs are underway.
One luxury apartment building in Port Chester, the newly opened Mariner, has changed its leasing policies in response the need for housing in response to the storm.
“So many people have been affected by it,” said Nancy Rossi, leasing manager of The Mariner. “How can you not want to help?”
The building is now offering shorter leases, starting at three months, and can have new tenants moved in within 48 hours depending on a credit check, Rossi said.
“We’re trying to make it as smoothly as possible,” she said.
The Mariner, 21 Willet Ave., was opened several weeks ago. It has 100 units and only eight have been rented so far.

Sandy was terrible. I am in Windsor Ontario and people were losing their roofs from the wind. I can’t even imagine the damge it did to other parts of Canada and the US. Wish everyone well… and I hope your insurance companies are having your back.
